Skolafund In Malaysia’s Top Ten!

Luxury magazine The Top 10 of Malaysia has featured Skolafund in their latest Top 10 list!

With their tagline, “The Essence of High Achievers and Affluent Society,” the magazine does what it says – it gives their readers top ten lists of almost anything and everything in Malaysia.

Skolafund was named as 1 of the top 10 crowdfunding platforms.

From the Top 10 Korean Restaurants to the Top 10 Women Social Entrepreneurs in Malaysia, it’s definitely a huge honour and motivation to be featured on such a list.

Crowdfunding Skolafund With ATA Plus

You might have missed this, but in April, Skolafund joined hands with the good people at ATA Plus. Through the power of equity crowdfunding, investors from the crowd put in anything from RM50,000 to RM10, with Skolafund raising RM300,498 of capital.

Syamil and Syakir are 2 of the Co-Founders of Skolafund.

Fierce or not?

In an interview with ATA Plus, Skolafund co-founders Syakir Hashim and Tengku Ahmad Syamil share their experiences with raising the capital needed to make a business work.

As South-East Asia’s first education crowdfunding platform, Skolafund wanted to tackle the increasing budget cuts in universities by empowering students and making higher education accessible. But they had to deal with budget issues themselves.

When the company was based in Singapore in 2015, says Syakir, they had to meet “like ten to twenty potential investors every day over three months.  This didn’t earn us a revenue, it was just for survival. Fundraising is a full time job and it takes the founders away from building the business itself.”

It’s a really interesting interview that gives you an idea of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, so be sure to check out the rest of it!

“Knowing That We Offer A Solution To Those In Need – That Keeps Us Motivated.”

Those are the words of co-founder Tengku Ahmad Syamil, who gave an interview to Digital News Asia (DNA) after being chosen as one of the “Digerati 50.”

What’s that, you ask? DNA’s Digerati 50 are inspiring individuals, chosen as “our potential champions in the emerging Digital Economy, and almost all of them are trying to build regional if not global companies.” That sounds like Syamil and Skolafund to us! It’s another insightful interview revealing the challenges and rewards behind building Skolafund – click the link to read it now.

In Other News… What does Syamil have in common with Neelofa?

Give up? The answer is that they both have been featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia!  The Star has the full story here but you can hear from the celebrity actress herself:

Congratulations to Neelofa, but our own co-founder did it first in 2016, so to him it’s no big deal. (We’re kidding!) Watch an interview Syamil did with TODAY Newspaper in Singapore about his Forbes 30 Under 30 Nomination:
